Small vibrant Boston bike shop seeks a self-motivated, friendly staff member to answer customer phone calls and emails, schedule sales and repair visits, complete financial transactions, process incoming merchandise, and perform related administrative tasks.
Currently part-time with the possibility of adding more hours starting in April or May.
The right candidate has:
- Interest in bicycles and bicycling
- Weekend availability
- Friendly and positive attitude; ability to work respectfully with a diverse population of customers and co-workers, including LGBTQIA+ identities
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment
- Strong communication skills
- 1-2 years of sales experience in a small business
- Great attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to remain calm in fast-paced and stressful situations
- Some knowledge of bicycles and accessories (though we do offer job training)
- Solid computer skills. Experience with inventory tracking systems, databases or Lightspeed Retail point of sale specifically a plus.
- Spanish language proficiency a plus!
- Social media knowledge and general marketing savvy also a plus
Duties:
Sales-
- Answer phone calls and emails from customers
- Explain procedures to customers on the phone and via email
- Present options to customers for purchasing parts and accessories (usually via email; may be through a window or outdoors if the customer walks up to the shop door without calling)
- Ring up sales transactions through Lightspeed Retail point of sale and PayPal Invoices
- Other related duties as assigned
Assist Mechanics, Workshop –
- Schedule and coordinate repair drop-offs and pick-ups; make sure work is paid for
- Input Work Orders into LightSpeed Retail point of sale work order management system
- Fill tires, fix flats, install simple accessories if able
Inventory –
- Receive product shipment from vendors
- Assist Purchasing Manager with inventory counts, restocking, and ordering
- Label and price merchandise accurately as needed
- Other related duties as assigned
